Blazing a reading Trail...Day one

6/7/2016

Day One:  We visited three sites today; Glenlee, Lunnie Park and Antioch Community Church.  Brandy Dillin, Principal of Beebe Middle School, joined us at Glenlee and Lunnie Park.  She read a story to our bookmobile patrons.  Linda Jenkins (Retired Science Instructor, Beebe Public Schools) led science experiments, at Antioch Community Church, based on Carbon Dioxide
  • Dancing Raisins- Raisins were put into the bottom of a jar and then clear soda was poured over them. The carbon dioxide bubbles caused the raisins to rise to the top of the jar and then sink.
  • Balloon- Vinegar and baking soda were mixed together in a bottle. A balloon was placed over the bottle and the carbon dioxide released expanded the balloons.
  • Kids were given pop rocks to try at home.
What a FANTASTIC first day on the bookmobile!  We can't wait to see more students tomorrow!
